Meet Dr. Matt Richardson
Life until now has been hard. It’s time to believe that better days are ahead.
I’m a licensed psychologist in Massachusetts who specializes in working with motivated men who are struggling with eating disorders and body image concerns. You don’t have to do this alone anymore. I’m ready to help you break painful cycles, heal your relationship with food, and feel at home in your body.
What’s it like to work with me
My clients often describe me as warm and relationship-oriented, while still being direct and willing to challenge them. My primary focus is to create and maintain a space where my clients feel safe, respected, and understood. In our sessions, you should always feel free to speak openly - no topics are off limits. I’m someone who will frequently check-in to make sure that I’m tracking what you’re saying, and I will often ask about what you are thinking and feeling in the moment as we talk about hard things. I’m very emotion-focused and enjoy helping clients sit with and work through difficult feelings.
Here are some of the values that show up in my work:
Strengths-based
Social Justice and Equity
Judgment Free
Humor
Mindfulness
Authenticity
Wondering if we’re a good fit?
Who I help
You are ready to make changes in your life and believe that therapy can help.
You are looking to establish a long-term therapeutic relationship.
You have an idea of what to talk about in therapy and are willing to open up and be vulnerable.
You prefer seeing your therapist online via telehealth.
You want to better understand and regulate your emotions.
You are interested in understanding their attachment style.
You’re ready to make the investment and work hard towards healing.
Who I refer out
You only want to see a therapist in-person.
You’re unsure if you have money or time to commit to weekly therapy.
You’re looking for quick solutions to make your problems go away.
You’re not sure how therapy can be helpful, what you’re supposed to talk about, or what the core of your concerns are.
You’re uncomfortable with vulnerability and would prefer not to discuss your most personal thoughts and feelings with another person.
You’re mainly looking for therapy to make someone else happy.
